NEW: PRE-MOULD LIGHTS with glass factory Steklarna Hrastnik and BIO50

PRE-MOULD LIGHTS with Steklarna Hrastnik and BIO50 for the 24th design biennial in Ljubljana, Slovenia, 2014
These lights were produced in improvised moulds. The glassblower decides on the final shape of the object. Further, the
improvised part is combined with the opal glass shapes that Steklarna Hrastnik, a slovenian glass factory, is already producing.

FORM 253 / DISCOURSE

I wrote an article for german design magazine form. It is about improvistaion in the design process, and it’s related to my larger project on improvisation in the design process.

ROTMOLDED LIGHT / NEW COLOR: RED / NEW NAME: CLAUDE

The rotomolded light has changed its name to »CLAUDE« (like the experimentator Claude Bernard or Claude Lévi-Strauss, anthropologist who also wrote about »bricolage«) and is now sold by french company HARTÔ.

CLAUDE / ROTOMOLDED LIGHT

This pendant light was originally a test – shape that I designed to improve my rotational moulding production setup.

IMPROVISATIONSWERKSTATT – Workshops, Kollaborationen

Improvisation is always, especially in different fields of design, used as a strategy to generate Ideas and Works.
In my practical PhD project I design a setup in which improvisation can occur. These workshop concepts were developed in collaboration with different designers.

IMPROVISATION IN DESIGN / work in progress – PhD research

Current Project (still work in Progress): Improvisation is a natural part of everyday life of the creator. It is, in part unconsciously, always used in the design process. Is Improvisation a method?
